About Us:

• (A) Principal, Govt. Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar has been designated as Nodal Officer by Govt. in Commerce & Transport (Transport) Deptt. to look after the Govt. funded non-residential LMV Driving Training schemes with a view to generate skilled manpower for self employment in getting job opportunity in the open market. This 45 Days LMV driving training is being imparted to BPL/SC/ST/Women category of candidates as per guidelines notified by Govt. in Commerce & Transport (Transport) Department vide Resolution No. 4632/T Dated 17/06/2016 through empanelled LMV Driving Training Institutes of the State. OSEM/OSDA make the funding for the programme. The empanelment of LMV DTIs have been approved by respective Collectors of the Districts on the Field Visit Reports submitted by the Field Visiting Team constituted by Transport Commissioner, Odisha, Cuttack vide Office Order No. 10411/TC Dt.15/09/2014, consisting of Zonal Deputy Commissioner Transport, RTO & Dist. Employment Officer concerned. At present so far 110 Nos of Pvt. DTS as empanelled to impart Govt. sponsored Training Programme. The funding is being made by Odisha State Employment Mission Society (Now named as Odisha Skill development Authority). Applications from intending candidates are invited by Principal, Govt. DTS, Bhubaneswar through open advertisement in widely published daily news papers. Then applications with enclosures are sorted region-wise & sent to the respective RTOs for necessary selection of trainees through Dist. Level Committee (DLC), consisting of Collector or his/her Nominee, RTO & Dist. employment Officer. The DLC selects candidates as per criteria through personal interview & allot trainees to the Empanelled DTIs as per choice of the applicants. Payments to the DTIs are made as per guidelines of Govt. Resolution through RTGS remittance to their Bank Accounts. 25% of the training costs are paid to the DTIs on submission of LLs from respective RTOs. 2nd installment of 50% of training cost are paid to the DTIs only after receipt of Log books, Database (both soft & hard copy), copies of DLs, Copies of Form-5 (course completion certificate) and Report of DLC. Rest 25% of the training cost are paid only after due verification of above documents by the Funding Agency.

• (B) This HMV Driving Training Programme through Empanelled Pvt. HMV Driving Training Institutes commenced during 2016-17. STA after necessary field visits by ACT (Admn) & ACT (Tech) with respective RTOs, has empanelled 17 , 20 & 22 nos. of Pvt.HMV DTIs respectively during 2016-17,2017-18 & 2018-19 to undertake Govt. funded HMV Driving Training to LMV Drivers having minimum one year experience in LMV Driving & minimum age of 20 years. This year (2019-20) as many as 27 DTIs have been empanelled to conduct HMV Driving Training under OSDA funding.

I. What type of training is being provided at private driving training institutes?

Both Govt. sponsored and payment basis driving training of both LMV & HMV are being provided by different private DTIs of Odisha.

II. Who is eligible for Govt. Sponsored LMV & HMV Training at Private Driving Training Institute?

For Govt. sponsored LMV Driving Training persons with age limit from 18 to 35 years, minimum 5 feet height and BPL(ration Card Holder), SC, ST, Women categories are eligible. For Govt. sponsored HMV Driving Training at Private Driving Training Institute, persons with age limit from 20 to 35 years, minimum 5 feet & 4 inches height and the candidate must having LMV License with one year experience are eligible. He/She has must to be a resident of State of Odisha.

III. How to Apply?

Every year the advertisement for applications for the training is published by the Principal, Govt. Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar in the Local Newspaper and accordingly the candidates has to apply in the prescribed format for selection of the eligible candidates for all the private DTIs of the state. The list of candidates is enlisted for a period of 1 year. After the compilation of the list of the candidates the same is transmitted to the concerned RTOs of the district for necessary scrutiny and selection by the District level committee.

IV. Is this training free of cost?

Yes, the Govt. sponsored Non-residential LMV & HMV Driving Training is free of cost. Simultaneously there is another provision for payment of Wage Loss Compensation of Rs.3,000/- to each of the HMV Driving Trainees by the Govt. of Odisha.

V. What is the duration of Training?

There is provision of 45 days to LMV driving training & 30 days to HMV driving training after which the trainees has to appear for the driving competency test at any RTO to obtain driving license.

VI. Is there any employment opportunity?

After completion of the driving training the candidates are eligible for their self-employment in logistic and transport sector which is having a vast demand.
