IDTRS Chaatia

The Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) IDTR, Chhatia, was established in Bidyadharpur, Chhatia, Jajpur, in 2013 under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Its primary objective is to provide high-quality driving training to Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) drivers transitioning to the HMV segment, and to offer comprehensive refresher training to existing state drivers, thereby enhancing employability and promoting road safety. Situated on a 40-acre campus adjacent to National Highway No. 5, the facility boasts 31,000 square feet of floor space for the institute and hostel, along with a state-of-the-art 4.7-kilometer driving training track. The institute offers three distinct training programs:

  •  A one-month HMV Driving Training Programme, funded by the Transport Department and OSEM.
  •  Two-day refresher courses focusing on fuel saving and accident prevention.
  •  Three-day refresher courses specializing in the transportation of hazardous goods.

The one-month HMV Driving Training Programme is specifically designed for LMV drivers who have held their LMV driving license for at least one year. Additional eligibility criteria include:

  • Height: 5 feet 4 inches or taller.
  • Educational Qualification: 8th grade pass or higher.
  • Age: 20 to 40 years.

This is a fully residential course, and trainees are not required to pay for training, lodging, boarding, or driving license fees. Furthermore, upon successful completion of the training and obtaining their HMV driving license, trainees are entitled to receive a wage loss compensation of Rs. 3,000 each.
