The department of transport offers good career prospects to engineering diploma and degree holders. The initial entry into transport engineering services can be into subordinate transport engineering service, the entry being in the post of junior motor vehicle inspector(Junior MVI) and into transport engineering service, the entry being in the post of motor vehicle inspector(MVI). The engineering career has additional transport commissioner at its apex.
The entry into enforcement wing is at the level of traffic constable and traffic sub-inspector and am enforcement personnel can get promotion upto the rank of DST.
The general service candidates have the base level of junior assistant and can get promotion upto establishment officer. Till the present date, some of the ASOs, auditors, computers are promoted to the ranks of assistant RTO general, then to additional RTO general and RTO general.
